My Life Story

I was born in Abilene, Texas and went to school in Baird until my sophomore year of high school. My dad got a job in Fort Worth so our family moved to Tolar, Texas. At Tolar, I played football, basketball and church softball. At the time Tolar didn't have a baseball team so this was the closest to baseball that was offered. I graduated in 1997 and then joined the Army.

When I joined the Army I went to Ft. Knox, Kentucky for basic training. Now having been a guy from Texas, I was not used to seeing alot of snow on the ground. When we landed, I was greeted by about ten drill sergeants and 2 feet of snow. It was quite the welcome. After boot camp, I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.

In May of 1999, I married my high school sweetheart Amber Hammond. We moved to Copperas Cove where we both got involved in a local church and began serving in the Youth Ministry department.

After my four years were up in the military, my wife and I moved back to Fort Worth where I began pursing the American dream of "it's all about me and what I can have or own." That really never worked out. The whole time I was living my dream God was working on my heart. In 2004 I surrendered to full time ministry and began attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where I earned a Diploma in Theology. I also have a bachelors degree from Liberty University in Religion. I am currently working on my Masters of Divinity at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.

In 2005 I began serving as a youth pastor in Granbury, Texas. While I was there God continued working in my life preparing me for what he has called me to do for the rest of my life.

In 2006, I met these two guys who just planted a church in Granbury called StoneWater. As our relationship grew the idea of church planting began to grow in my heart. Before I took that leap of faith, God called me to serve at FBC Copperas Cove as a Youth Pastor. I was there for three years. During those three years I grew, matured and was mentored by a great staff that reassured me of my calling to be a church planter.

That leads me to where I am at now. We are here to plant a church in Cleburne, Texas that will make a difference in our community. God has given me a clear vision to reach young families with children and to specifically focus on reaching the men in those families. I am excited to be here to minister to and reach people with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
